Reformer
This advert would relate to explorer because they would
want to try something new and this trainer is new. This trainer is
for someone that enjoys adventure and someone that has a lot of
energy. Also not many people have the trainer so it makes them different from
other people. Also this shoe would be good for someone that has a lot of
energy, and someone which is trying to find themselves.
Aspirer
This trainer relates to an aspirer because this trainer is
expensive and mainly materialistic people would purchase them. Also someone
that cares about their image and someone who has an expensive appearance would
purchase and relate to this shoe. They also pay attention to detail and all
their clothing has the same colour.
Strugglers
This advert is for people which are struggling and can’t afford
high end food. They resolve to junk food and alcohol. Also they make when
having a meal a family thing, and the food brings them closer. They are
traditional as well because they are eating as a family and everyone is
involved.
This
is for someone that is after quality and high end products. These headphones
are top of the range and they are setting a trend by purchasing them. These headphones
are expensive and the individual is saying it relates to them. They are wearing
top of the range and expensive headphones which reflects them.
Mainstream
This
is for someone which the copies the majority of the public and is just like
everyone else. The majority of the public goes to this store not depending on
your wealth. The store isn't expensive but it attracts middle and working class
people. It is a family brand and
it is well known so the mainstream would shop at this supermarket.
Resigned
They don't change
their opinions and interests and purchase the same product because of the
consistency. So they are traditional and its safety to buy the same things.
Also they don't follow what the mainstream buy and do what they want.
They enjoy the past and don’t like change and modern things. The classic Nokia
would relate to this demographic because of the age.
Reformer
I think this advert would relate to a reformer because it is
freedom from restriction. And it has personal growth so they can try something
new and refreshing. This advert has a man on his own in the wilderness and it
shows he is free. And refreshed and that his surroundings are clear and free.
I
would say I'm an explorer and a merge of an aspirer because I have qualities
that would fit into both categories. I like trying new brands and pay attention
to detail and I believe that I'm a merge of both demographic groups.

represenation
The advert above targets a male audience because it is a
sports car and it is red, so this type of car wouldn’t be targeted at women.
The audience knows that Men enjoy buying the latest and fastest cars on the
market and this would be very appealing to them. Also men would research this
product because it interests them and women wouldn’t bother.
Sports cars a gendered at males because it is a stereotyped
as mainly men are better drivers and women are stereotyped as being bad
drivers. The car looks fast and women generally don’t want fast cars, family
cars are generally targeted at women.
The advert above targets men and has a male driver so yes males are the targets for sports cars. It is a stereotype that women are poor drivers therefore the target market is generally males.
The advert above targets men and has a male driver so yes males are the targets for sports cars. It is a stereotype that women are poor drivers therefore the target market is generally males.
Beer is usually advertised to men because males usually drink beer and they are the target
audience. This is because it shows a man and a beer with a woman in the
background and it says ‘long distance relationship’ meaning that the main
enjoys beer more than female company. Also because it has a Man first and they
are the target audience, he is holding the beer in his hand and this connotes that
he has a better relationship with the beer.
If they had a girls night out advert and
then the women drinking the beer this would appeal to women. But the people
that market this product think that women don’t drink and aren’t interested in
alcohol. But it would be hard to advertise alcohol that would appeal to both
genders.
The print advert above is
targeted at mothers because it attracts families and mothers deal with the
house work generally. This product would be hard to be targeted at men because
they don’t usually buy household products. It also says in the advert ‘looking
out for the family’ and mothers look out for the family. Also it could be for a
family that has a dog for a pet because it looks like it is for that type of
family.
I don’t think this advert
could appeal for both genders because men don’t usually get involved with the
house work and this wouldn’t appeal to them. This advert is usually targeted at
mothers and housewives because it is stereotyped that they do the domestic
work.
This advert is targeted at men
because it shows an image of man spraying himself. It is a stereotype that men
have bad body odour so they are the target market for this advert and product.
It says next to the spray can ‘even angels will fall’ and this means that if
you use this spray you will attract women.
I think it would be difficult
to attract and appeal to both genders in the same advert. Females are generally
seen as clean and they use of an advert for both genders would be hard because
they both have different needs. Also men
generally use sprays where as women use roll on so this is a reason why it
would be difficult to appeal to both.
It would be difficult for the advert to appeal to both genders because the advert is for heterosexual males and it wouldn’t attract women.
Cleaning products are usually
targeted at mothers and housewives because they usually purchase these items.
They are the target market because they usually do the cleaning for families.
It is a stereotype that these goods are targeted at them but yes they are the
target market.
It is hard for these items to
appeal to both genders because males won’t purchase these goods unless
instructed by their wives. If is seen that the woman does all the domestic
cleaning so they would only purchase these goods.
Trainers are usually targeted
at men because they are a wider target group because men usually buy them.
Females generally buy high heels or flat shoes and trainers is not something
they would buy. So it is hard to target both in one advert.
Games are usually targeted at families but generally males it
depends on the game, if it sports or action then usually males. If it is dance
or singing games then that is a family game. It doesn’t depend on the console
but the game has a big factor.
Both genders can be targeted because the games console is for
both but the games are not targeted at both. For example shooting games don’t target
females because it is too violent and aggressive for them. Also sports games
are not targeted at females because they aren’t interested in that genre.

Essay feedback
Grade C
WWW- you have made some very good points here and pitched
out relevant details/examples.
EBI- The way you have structured your answer doesn’t help
you, and Q2 is a weakness. When you’re talking about representation you need to
mention stereotypes and message the clip offers.
LR- Write a extra paragraph for Q2 referring to stereotypes.

Fish tank research
1. BBC Films,
UK Film council and Limelight communication.
2. Md
3. I think the
BBC is the most successful out of all of them because they are the best known
out of all of them. They also have a lot of funds behind them and they can
promote their films more and easier. They
have also produced famous films like west is west.
4. It cost 3
million to produce the movie.
5. The below
films had a budget of 5 million or less:
Kidulthood
Anuvahood
Shank
The
inbetweeners movie
Beginners
6. BBC films
and limelight communication funded fish tank.
7. The other
ways British films are funded: the uk film council,, the national lottery film
fund, the can fund themselves, communities and friends.
8. Fish tank
was targeted at 15 year olds and above.
9. The main distributors
of fish tank were: the independent film channel and artificial eye.
10.
A film distributor
is a company which promotes the movie and sells it to cinema’s to show they
market the film.
11.
It was
promoted in France, Cannes film festival and UK film council.
12.
The
difference between Hollywood films and fish tank is the cinematography, the
camera shots and the movement. Hollywood movies have big budgets so they get
the best cameras and directors. Whereas fish tank didn’t have a big budget so
they couldn’t produce the same quality. Also Hollywood have well known actors
whereas fish tank had unknown actors or not very famous ones.

15.
15 is the
age set by the film company and nobody younger can watch it. The use of swear
words in the movie and there was some sex scenes but it wasn’t too graphic this
is why this was deemed acceptable. But 15 year olds can’t rent or purchase any
films, it wasn’t too serious so this why it was at 15. But at 18 there is more nudity
and they are more graphic.

fish tank review
Fish tank
film review
Mia a young girl aged 15
that aren’t very popular on her estate; she doesn’t have many friends and
doesn’t get along with a lot of people. She enjoys dancing and this is how she
expresses her feelings. The director has planned this movie carefully and every
detail makes a difference and makes the view stronger.
Andrea Arnold presents Mia
as a troubled teenager living in a rough area and she finds it hard to express
her feelings so that’s why she is always rude and moody. She uses music to
express how she feels. She isn’t scared of anything because she nearly got
beaten up when she tried to steal the horse. And when the social worker had
visited the house she just walked out. So authority means nothing to her
although she begins to respect her mother’s boyfriend towards the end. She
doesn’t get along with anyone because nobody understands her that’s why she is
always on her own.
I think this movie
represents British, working class and single mother family in some ways and it
gives people a different insight of life. Its gives a good representation of the setting
and the costume of how people like that live. The costume of the female
characters in the movie also shows the stereotypes of girls living on council
estates that they are either ‘slag’s’ or ‘chavs. The film also has a lot of
swearing and abusive words in it to show that the people are illiterate and
this how some people live in the UK.
Mia gets taken advantage of
her mother’s boyfriend because he is nice to but exploits her one night. She
slowly falls in love with her mother’s boyfriend but at one point realises that
he doesn’t feel the same and he just used her. And then walks out on the family
and her because he didn’t want to be involved anymore. This is why when she
goes to his house and see’s that he has a family on his own she reacts by
urinating on the carpet. And that’s the way an animal would act and she doesn’t
know any other way to express herself. Mia tries to kidnap Connor’s daughter
out of revenge so he can feel how she felt and how the family felt.
Mia doesn’t want to be
anything like her mother, getting used by men and getting drunk. But in reality
she is because that’s the only role model she has and she is behaving like her
mother without being conscious of what she is doing. This is why she chooses to
move away from her mother and area, she is the only one that has a dream
throughout the movie.
The movie ended like a fairy
tale or like most Hollywood movies where the protagonist lives happily ever
after. And her moving away with her boyfriend gives a new start to life.
Although she is moving from her sister and mother it helps her grow and try
something new.
The actors also played a big
part in the film because they added a sense of realism and this made the
audience realise that it actually happens in life. It also made the audience
emphasize with the family and they could feel how the actors were feeling. Also
the cinematography played a big part in the movie, because some shots weren’t perfect
but it reminded the audience that the movie wasn’t meant to be glamorous but
the gritty reality. There were some shots which summed up the whole scene and
this made the audience understand and feel what the character is going through.
The movie is targeted at 15
years old or above because some parts are a bit graphic to young viewers. But
the movie shows an interesting insight of how single mothers live. It also
shows how it is hard for a family to live without a male figure in the
house.
Production of media awards 2012 anlysis
Inner redemption
The music at the
beginning made me think it was a romantic movie although the title was a
bit contrapuntal. I thought it was romance because of the shot that were
used and it was a sunset. Also the boy in the clip made me think that as well.
But as the trailer went on there is a close up of the girl and you can see the
horror on her face which makes you emphasize as a viewer. The editing of that
shot was really good and it made you emphasize with the character and
there was a good choice of music. This gave viewers some suspense because they
were on the edge of their seats to know what was going to happen next and they weren't sure if it is a romance or a horror movie.
W.W.W: The sound
and music used in the clip and also the editing of the clip made it collaborate
together.
E.B.I: Some
of the shots were too far away from the scene and it was hard to relate and
understand that bit.
The Paper boy
The genre was
horror and it had fulfilled what it had promised. They used good cinematography
and different shot which were really effective. They use a panning shot to
give you a surrounding of the setting which is a school. A medium shot of the
boy that had been bullied is shown it shows his past because they had done a
flashback '10 years later' to explain that they have gone back in time.
W.W.W: The
cinematography was really good because it captured the movie and was
right for the genre. And it had been edited very well.
E.B.I: They should
have explained some bits of the trailer better and make the viewers understand
what is happening at that point.
